Family First Medical Centre and Family First Skin Cancer Clinic has been operating since 2012. We have 6 full time General Practitioners 1 of whom have additional qualifications in Skin Cancer Medicine plus we have a cosmetic doctor providing anti wrinkle injections and lip fillers. Our team also includes a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.


Additionally our 4 Registered Nurses and a team of 8 admin staff are all dedicated at putting the needs of our patients first. Our purpose built facilities including large fully equipped theatre enable our Doctors and Nurses to provide the most advanced care in the most comfortable of surroundings. Our medical centre is conveniently located across the road from the Hervey Bay hospital and we have more than 65 car spaces available for ease of parking.


Our practice supports Chemart Pharmacy who offer a discount Pharmacy service. We also have an onsite QML Pathology and a dedicated mental health team Please call us for more details.

Dr Wayne Norval has been practicing medicine for more than 21 years. Wayne is a Vocationally Registered GP and has his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He also has his Diploma with the Australian College of Skin Cancer Medicine and has many years specialised experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as Psychiatry.


He believes in developing a caring and supportive relationship with his patients. Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Family Planning, Antenatal Care, Paediatrics, Preventative Health and Skin Cancer Medicine are all areas of medical interest. Dr Phil Thorp originally from Chicago USA has been in Australia for 15 years. After graduating from the Australian National University in Canberra Dr Thorp settled on the Fraser Coast and has called it ‘home’ ever since.  Dr Thorp enjoys paddle boarding, gardening and cooking and his special interests in medicine are Skin Cancer Medicine and Preventative Health. Dr Thorp bulk bills all patients and is currently accepting new Skin patients only.


Dr Min has been living and working in Australia since 2007 and has been caring for members of the Hervey Bay community since 2012. Dr Mins special interests lie in the areas of children’s health, Aboriginal health and family medicine. Dr Mins passions are soccer, swimming and running. Dr Min is currently accepting new GP patients and bulk bills all patients.


Dr Subecha Badu has been practicing as a GP since 2012. Dr Badu is a Vocationally Registered GP and has her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Badu  has special interests in General Medicine, Woman’s Health and Preventative Health. In her spare time Dr Badu enjoys baking, gardening, bike riding and traveling. Dr Badu also enjoys spending time with her husband and young family and in her free time is working towards obtaining her Skin Cancer Diploma.


Olga graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School with first class honours in 2015. She was involved in research at the Translational Research Institute in Brisbane for 2 years in the area of gut microbiota and inflammatory arthritis. She completed her internship at the Ipswich Hospital. Olga worked at the Hervey Bay hospital for a year, completing rotations in general and sub acute medicine, oncology and emergency medicine.


Olga joined Family First Medical Centre in 2017 and is currently working towards her RACGP fellowship.


Olga’s particular areas of interest include disease prevention through healthy diet and lifestyle, skin care and optimal management of chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.


Outside of work Olga enjoys bushwalking and reading books.
